Environmental Impact Assessments

For planning and authorization procedures of wind power projects, several types of environmental impact assessments are required.

Noise Impact Assessment

In a Noise Impact Assessment, the noise immissions of a wind turbine or a wind park on the surroundings are calculated. We employ the WindPRO software to compute the immissions according to the ISO 9613-2 norm. In Switzerland, we evaluate the results based on Swiss laws. Swiss authorities accept our noise assessments.

Shadow Impact Assessment

Shadow casts from turning rotor blades can be very annoying. With HORIcatcher, a device and software developed by METEOTEST, we digitize the horizon and calculate daily and yearly shadowing periods for the affected buildings. Alternatively, we can also perform a shadow impact analysis based on the  WindPRO software.

Photomontages

In the planning phase of a wind power project, photomontages are an important tool to demonstrate the project's impact on the landscape. Professionally produced photomontages can hardly be distinguished from real photographs.

Visibility analysis

With our geoinformatics tools, we calculate the visibility of a wind park or parts thereof for any location. A visibility map shows areas from which the turbines are visible.

Environmental impact assessment

In collaboration with partner firms we offer comprehensive environmental impact assessments, covering all aspects to be treated in the scope of a wind power project.

Power Supply

New: For remote sites without power supply, we now offer LIDAR and SODAR measurements with our autonomous power system.

Quality in Wind Power

METEOTEST signs commitment to wind energy standards.

Solar Cadastre

As a new product, we offer solar cadastres for all roofs of a town, commune or region.
