Wind Assessments

We carry out wind assessments for small projects as well as big wind parks in Switzerland and abroad. Our assessments can contain the following elements:

  • Measurement campaigns with masts, SODAR and LIDAR
  • Data monitoring and analysis
  • Elaboration of long term wind statistics
  • Wind modeling
  • Power production calculations for several park layouts
  • Consideration of park effect (mutual influence of wind turbines) in power production calculations
  • Comprehensive uncertainty and risk analyses
  • Environmental aspects such as noise, shadowing, visibility, photomontages
  • Second opinion / verification of existing assessments
  • Analysis of extreme wind as well as turbulence intensity and determination of wind turbine classes according to IEC 61400

Basic data

Thanks to our broad business fields we can provide excellent basic data for wind power projects (e.g. from geoinformatics). In our wind assessments, we often include data which you otherwise would have to obtain painstakingly and expensively.

Long term meteorological data

  • Our data base contains long term data series (including wind) of over 5'000 meteorologicel stations world wide as well as 110 meteorological stations in Switzerland.
  • Our product METEONORM contains meteorologic statistics for any location in the world.
  • Additionally, we utilize world wide reanalysis data for long term correlations if no suitable measurement data is available.

Topographical data

We dispose of a world wide digital elevation model with a horizontal resolution of under 100 m. Surface roughness is also an important input for wind modeling. We have prepared roughness maps covering all of Switzerland and Europe.

Power Supply

New: For remote sites without power supply, we now offer LIDAR and SODAR measurements with our autonomous power system.
